Build the Guitar You've Always Imagined

A custom RML guitar is more than an instrument.
It’s a collaboration, a journey, and ultimately, an extension of your musical voice.

The Custom Journey

From the first conversation to the final note, you’re part of the process. This is lutherie as it was meant to be personal, intentional, and deeply connected to the player.

Consultation

We begin with a conversation about your playing style, tonal preferences, and how you’ll use the guitar. What genres do you play? Do you fingerpick or flatpick? What guitars have you loved in the past, and what would you change about them?

This dialogue helps us understand not just what you want, but what you need. Sometimes these aren’t the same thing. Our job is to guide you toward choices that will serve your music best.

Design

Together, we’ll make decisions about model, tonewoods, appointments, and specifications. We’ll discuss the trade-offs between different material choices and how they affect tone, weight, and aesthetics.

Want a dreadnought with Adirondack and Brazilian rosewood? Prefer an orchestra model with Engelmann and mahogany? Need a specific neck profile or string spacing? This is where your vision becomes a blueprint.

Build

Once materials are selected and the build slot opens, work begins. You’ll receive regular photo updates documenting major milestones: body assembly, neck shaping, finish application, final setup.

This documentation becomes part of your guitar’s story. Years from now, you’ll be able to look back and see exactly how it was made, from raw wood to finished instrument.

Delivery

When your guitar is complete, it undergoes final voicing, setup, and a thorough quality inspection. We’ll send detailed photos and, if requested, sound samples before shipping.

Your guitar ships in a high-quality hardshell case with full insurance and tracking. The moment it arrives, you’ll be able to play an instrument that was built specifically for you.
